Student accommodation, St Peter’s College Oxford
We were retained by a private developer to assist in the delivery of a 54 bed student accommodation building for St Peter’s College in Oxford. The site was adjacent to a watercourse and the former Oxford Prison, part of which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Rickett Architects designed the scheme to maximise the accommodation on site and deliver and functional and appropriate design within the historical context.
The scheme was recommended for a student housing award by Vale of the White Horse District Council and used as a benchmark for achieving appropriate densities of accommodation on restricted urban infill sites.
During protracted planning negotiations, the design team sustained an uncompromising approach to the design development. This persisted through the construction phases to deliver the scheme to the College.
